Just like the Pilgrims who ventured to come to America in 1620, we've embarked upon a venture of our own. An adventure to unknown territories and unforeseen obstacles. Oh our obstacles don't shoot us with arrows or scalp us, but they're obstacles just the same.
Preposterous you say? Some may think so and at times we've thought this ourselves. But the thought of working as a team to accomplish a common goal, garnering valuable skills along the way and basking in the knowledge that we did it all on our own couldn't be too preposterous! We have, however, questioned our sanity numerous times already.
It should be known that Pete and I have never, ever done any construction! We have no construction experience aside from watching Norm Abrams on New Yankee Workshop and Bob Villa's This Old House. To call our remodel project an adventure is using the true sense of the word. It is an adventure, full of risks.
Our humble abode was built in 1908 making it 101 years old, and our adventure began with the demolition of a 100 years worth of plaster and lathe. Demolition is the easy part! The clean up of said demolition was a pain, literally, in the neck, back, buttocks, arms, you name it it hurts!
Now that our bodies are on the mend, all demolition is done and clean up is finished, we can begin Phase II of our remodel.
I'll get back to you with the details on that in a later blog. . .
