Something else I enjoy about cooking is sharing the recipes that were big hits with the family. I decided to designate a day on my blog for doing just that, Tasty Tuesday.
Every Tuesday I'll share one of my families favorite recipes. I'll try to include a picture with every recipe I post. If you're anything like me, a picture of the finished product is vital.
Now onto this week's recipe share:
Dirty Rice
4 Cups Cooked Long Grain White Rice
1 pkg. Jenni-O Hot Italian Turkey Sausage
1 Tbsp. Minced Garlic
1/2 ea. of Green, Yellow, Red and Orange Bell Peppers
1 Medium Onion, diced
1/2 cup Celery, diced
1 Tbsp. Creole Seasoning
2 Cans Seasoned Black Beans, drained
Shredded Monterey Jack Cheese
Sour Cream
1. Cook rice and set aside. Chop up veggies and set aside.
2. In a large skillet squeeze each turkey sausage out of the casing and into the pan. On med.-high heat, cook the sausage along with the garlic and creole seasoning. When the turkey sausage is almost cooked, add veggies to the skillet. Cook until veggies are tender crisp. Do not drain.
3. Add the drained black beans and cooked rice, mixing well. Heat through and serve.
4. Serve with a bit of Monterey Jack cheese and sour cream.

Mmmmmm! Baking Bacon right now and then biscuits. I'm feeling cozy and this sounds yummy! I love new recipes and will check in every Tuesday. BTW, which cuties picture did you like and which did Pete?
ReplyDeleteOn the cuties pictures. Pete liked the bottom picture while I preferred the top picture. I think it's funny that, so far, we have 1 vote for each!!!
ReplyDeleteBacon and biscuits sound good. What are you making for dinner tonight?
I've never written a recipe before. I had all these ingredients one day and started putting them together. The end result was dirty rice and the family loved it. So my husband told me to write it down.
So on this recipe the ratio of rice to the other ingredients may not be properly proportioned by a chef's standards. Also, I don't actually measure the creole seasoning. I just sprinkle it all over the turkey sausage until I think there is enough. So 1 Tbsp. was just a guess.
This rice is pretty spicy though! Just a few hints on the proportions. I figure if there is someone more Chef like that knows proper proportions they can tweak it.
