My Favorite Things

Hello fellow bloggers!

Hmmm . . . What to do on a sunny Friday morning?

You'd think I would get outside, wouldn't you?  Well, nope, here I sit at my trusty computer companion.

I am, at least, sitting in the warm sunshine streaming through the window curtains, reflecting on a few things that make me happy.

Some of My Favorite Things, to be exact.  I'll be covering a few things in music and art, for today.

After all, it is Friday; and Friday begins with the same letter as Favorite.  So why not?

Wait . . . I know. . . I'm brilliant.  Try to hold your applause, please.

Bahhhh ha ha ha ha  (Okay, that made me snicker, sorry.)

Don't let the word "few" fool ya.  My list of favorite things is anything but a few.  As a matter of fact, it surpasses a few by an infinite number!

It's more like gazillions, inconceivabillions, gobs, oodles, tons, buckets full, heaps of . . . you get the picture, I'm sure!

There are a lot of things that qualify as, my "favorite."

It's hard for me to sit down and pick just 1 or 2, even 3.  I love them all, I want to list them all, but it's probably best if I don't.  Otherwise, we'd be here all day and all night.

One of my favorite things is music.  I love many different genres and artists.  I'm beginning my list with Yo-Yo Ma and the lovely little tune, My Favorite Things.

It serves a dual purpose, really.  I always like to incorporate the blog title into the post somehow.  This takes care of that for me.  I love it!

A side note:  I L-O-V-E the Julie Andrews' version of this song, from the Sound of Music.  It's a classic.

However, because I'm covering two of favorites here--Yo-Yo Ma and My Favorite Things--I decided to go with this version instead.

Sort of killing two birds (things) with one stone!

Now on to art, the next of my favorite things for today.

In the world of art I have a lot of favorites.  Those favorites usually revolve around children's book type artwork.

I'm particularly fond of art that portrays children exploring their environment.  Enjoying the things that fascinate and captivate their attention.

To me, there is nothing more precious then a piece of art that encapsulates a moment in childhood.  It's just a lovely thing to me.

One of my favorite artists to do this, is the late Charlot Byj.  Her artwork was very popular in the 1940s and 50s, even still today.

Charlot Byj's artwork revolved around children.  Her pictures were used on greeting cards, in coloring books and an entire line of Hummel figurines was based upon her drawings.  She is one of my favs for sure; and I have a few of her pictures hanging in my house.

Here they are for you to see too:

It probably wont surprise you that another of my favorite things are,
APPLES!

These two pieces hang in my dinning room.

Well, that's all for My Favorite Things today.  Until another Friday, may your day be bright and full of YOUR favorite things!
