I trust you had a good nights sleep and are bright eyed and bushy tailed--much like my, rather riskay, squirrel friend here--on this wintery Saturday morning!
I do believe squirrely is ready for anything; and he has a look that shouts, "Bring it on, chick!"
{I used exclamation marks because that "Good Morning" had a lot of emotion behind it.}
Here I sit donning my raggedy flannel nightgown and frightful bed head, desperately longing for a cup of coffee. Coffee that would rouse me to awareness and allow me the pleasure of removing the toothpicks from my eyelids.
You see I didn't go to bed until after 4 a.m. Crazy, I know. But I was meandering thru the blogs, having a grand ol' time. So much so, that I couldn't drag myself away to bed. Knowing that tomorrow was Saturday, I kept reading until the wee hours of the morning.
I love Saturday mornings, their slow pace and welcomed reprieve from the daily grind are refreshing. I do, however, enjoy them more so when my husband is home too. But I know that he can't always be; and I'm okay with that. It's just a hazard of his work schedule. We muddle through.
Here in the McCarty abode we're just Thankful {with a capital 'T'} dad still has a job. Because really, it's the simple things in life that matter most.
{Here I go making lists again, I love a good list}
Simple things like:
- Warmth from a handmade blanket, on a cold winters' night
- A favorite coffee mug filled with deliciously flavored coffee
- Quiet in a still house when all are asleep but you
- Or the quiet of being the first awake, while the rest still sleep
- Gentle hums of a fan to circulate the air
- Beautiful birds visiting my backyard buffet
- Watching the neighborhood criminals {a/k/a the squirrels} raiding my bird feeders.
All of these Small Simplicities bring me joy, laughter and happiness.
Speaking further on simple things, I thought I'd like to write about simple things on a regular basis. Since Saturday begins with 'S' and I do so love the whole finding-things-to-write-about-that-begin-with-the-same-letter-as-the-day-of-the-week-thing, I chose Saturday for my Small Simplicities.
Truth be told, it's not a totally original idea. I'd noticed other bloggers writing about "The Little Things" on Saturdays; and, in an effort to be different, I changed the wording a bit. I just wanted to make it feel more my own.
{I like to be different, in case you haven't noticed.}
This is it, the first of my Saturday's Small Simplicities posts. A post about the small joys that bring such BIG amounts of happiness. I'm all about simplicity and happiness!
Today's Small Simplicity
To me there is nothing like the Small Simplicity of a perfectly toasted marshmallow. This picture is from two years ago, on one of our many tent camping adventures. I love a good camp out, campfire and a "Perfectly Toasted Marshmallow." This is me, with my prize winning Mallow!
May your day be toasted to perfection and wonderfully sweet.
Have a super simplistic day friends!

Love your bushy tailed friend. So cute, but very viscous little critters. I fed one several years back out of sympathy. Several feet of snow. I opened a window and put a pizza box on top of the snow. It was the same height as the window. I gave him peanuts until I ran out. He did not like that I ran out. He was body slamming my window and full view glass door. He did it for about three days. I will never make that mistake again.
ReplyDeleteKeep up the blogs. Love reading.
Dear, sweet Michelle,
ReplyDeleteThank you for the lovely note that you left on my blog today.
You brought a tear to my eye and as I couldn't find an email address to reply to you I came here to find the squirrel image and so my tear quickly turned into a giggle.
I love your idea of simplistic Saturday and will be following along to read these posts,
Felicity x
