I love vintage things, retro furniture and re-purposing items from the past. It's fun to take something old and give it a new life, in this era.
I'm a Goodwill, Salvation Army, Antique shop sort of girl. I've often been told that I was born in the wrong era, because I love all things old. Even my clothes are out-of-date.
Thrifty Thursday will give me a chance to share with you my thrifting adventures, as well as my already collected treasures. There's nothing like the thrill of a treasure hunt!
I love wandering the aisles of thrift stores, filling my cart with quality, cast-off items. Then when I get to the register, it's a big thrill to see that beautiful cart full of amazing stuff add up to less than the price of a single pair of jeans!
I'm tellin' ya, I feel like the energizer bunny when it comes to thrifting. I could keep going and going and going. Hunting for those long, sought after treasures and, by happenstance, coming out with things I didn't even know I loved. Really, quite literally, it's more thrilling than a roller coaster! Truly, it is.
Here's my latest Goodwill score. Two old puzzles
and two vintage board games. I think the marble puzzle is going
to be challenging.
Don't those kittens look cute enough to snuggle? Well, sure they do! There's nothing like a kitty pile-up!
I'd love nothing more than to make a wish for that basket full of kitties to come to life. But I guess I'll have to settle for putting the puzzle together; and hoping all the pieces are there.
Our resident kitten at heart, Toby, is also our merchandise quality control cat.
He had his eye on this puzzle the minute I laid it on the floor.
I do believe the tub-a-lub would've bit me, had I tried to take it
out from under him!
Aggravation! One of my all-time-favorite board games.
Complete with glass marbles! SCORE!
Toby thought he'd like to play too.
Except, he's more interested in the marbles and not the strategy!
All of my most recent Goodwill treasures.
Have I mentioned that I L-o-V-e
Goodwill Stores!
I adore this collection of mini Beatrix Potter books.
Especially since Peter Rabbit, was both my boys nursery theme.
Her books hold a special place in my heart.
I'm a big children's book collector anyway!
That beautiful cobalt blue kitty is my Inarco cat.
Isn't he handsome? Then there is my apple sweater, the
courtship candle holder and two Robin Egg Blue Melmac cups.
Plus, the glimpse of my lovely plastic fruit!
Yes! I said plastic fruit. You heard me right. Or should that be, read me right?
I'm in love with plastic fruit. I know, I know! Some of you are
thinking, "she must be a fruitcake." But that's okay. I am.
It was popular in the 70's and 80's; and I grew up with it.
It makes me smile!
Something else I enjoy collecting are wood items and faux wood items. Like this "Bless This House" plaque and the plaque at the beginning of this post.
So sweet!
Finally, I found this darling book entitled the Book of Silly Lists. You know, I can get lost in a Goodwill book section. Oodles and oodles of books for just .50 cents to $2.00. You can't beat it. (Well, except for garage sale books at a quarter a piece. But whose complaining.) This book is a gem. It's so simple, yet so interesting too. It's about lists--I bet you gathered that from its title--and who doesn't like to make lists? RIGHT?
I was reading the Book of Silly Lists in between
contemplating this post. I stumbled across this handy little list.
12 Household Chores. I think it'd be a GREAT one for the boys to read!
Don't you?
I thought I'd close with this sweet little snapshot of Toby.
I have NO idea what he was looking at, but he seemed poised;
and ready to pOuNcE!!!
Oh! I forgot to mention a few other items in my chair picture. I got a whole bag full of brand new yarn
to crochet with, a vintage birding book and a few poetry books. Two of which were Blue Mountain poetry books. Goodnight all.

oooh very jealous of that beatrix potter collection. her books were always my favourite growing up :D
ReplyDeletethat bag of yarn looks scrumptious too!
