40x40 List at 27x40

Back in February of 2010, I wrote about how I wanted to accomplish some things by my 40th birthday.  Forty things, to be exact.  You can read about those "things" here.

After writing my 40x40 list, August approached at warp speed.  With my 39th birthday staring me in the face, I realized I hadn't accomplished very many of my goals.

So in September 2010, I decided to re-evaluate the whole idea.  To step back and take another look.  Sort of put things into perspective and scale back on my goal setting.  If you'd like to read that post too, you can read it here.

Now, I always thought I was a goal oriented person.  Being a Virgo and all, we like that sort of thing . . . or so I thought.  But I'm not your typical Virgo.  Oh no!  I'm a procrastinator through and through.  I can  procrastinate with the best of 'em; and believe you me, procrastinate is what I did.

It's now February 2011 and my 40th birthday, not my 39th, will soon be staring me in the face.  If August 2011 approaches anywhere near as fast as August 2010 did, I'm in BIG trouble people!

I've shrunk the time frame for accomplishing my goals from the original 1 year and 6 months, all the way down to the present 6 months and 15 days.  Holy smokes, I'd better get crackin'!

Without further adieu, here is my revised list (with some things accomplished).

Well, there you have it, my 40x40 list.  It's still a pretty ambitious list, but all very doable.  I have a lot of fun adventures ahead and a lot of clean-up and work to do!

With 24 hrs in a day and 196 days left, I should have no problem accomplishing these last 27 "things."

So lets do some math.  196 days x 24 hours in each day = 4704 hours, give or take some sleep time.  We could get technical and subtract the recommended sleep time, 8 hours per day, from the entire hours left.

Yeah, lets do that math too.   196 days x 8 hours of sleep ea. day = 1,568 hours of sleep time needed.  So that means out of my 4,704 hours left, I have to take away 1,568 hours of usable time, in order to replenish my body and sleep.  Leaving me with a balance of 3,136 hours in which to complete what I've set out to accomplish.

Whoa!  Now that doesn't seem like very much time.  This is where procrastination gets ya' folks.

Time is not the only factor here.  The finishing of said 27 "things" left, also depends upon my body not giving out, as well as our vehicle and money supply.  All very BIG factors in this whole endeavor.

God willing, nothing will break down.

My 40x40 list is officially at 27x40.  I got this . . . I think!
