This morning I took a walk in the backyard to check on my daffodils. MY daffodils! Well, okay, I have to be honest. They really aren't MY daffodils, when you get down to the nitty gritty of it.
I did not plant daffodils in my yard.
Had I planted them, they would have been in nice neat rows along a fence line or in a flower bed. These beauties, however, are smack dab in the middle of the yard in very odd spots.
What I do know is this. All up and down my street, neighbor after neighbor has daffodils in their yards. Leading me to believe we have a criminal in our midst. Yes!
A bushy tailed, furry orange, four-legged criminal.
A thief simply seeking to store up munchies for the winter.
I can picture the little devils digging their way into the ground, snatching up the daffodil bulbs and scurrying away to my yard. Once here, they dig some more and hide their stolen edibles.
But I think . . .
being as they have very tiny brains, the squirrelly convicts just might have forgotten where they hid a few of their stolen goodies.
Serendipity, I say . . .
By accident, I'm sure, I am fortunate to discover these Glorious Daffodils popping up in my yard, spring after spring.
Thank goodness they haven't figured out that the daffodils I've been enjoying, are the very edibles they stole and forgot about. My luck . . . is their unfortunate loss.
CRAZY squirrels!

"Earth laughs in flowers." ~ Ralph Waldo Emerson
"A host of golden daffodils; Beside the lake, beneath the trees, fluttering and dancing in the breeze." ~ William Wordsworth Quotes
"It is daffodil time, so the robins all cry, For the sun's a big daffodil up in the sky, And when down the midnight the owl call "to-whoo!" Why, then the round moon is a daffodil too; Now sheer to the bough-tops the sap starts to climb, So, merry my masters, it's daffodil time." ~ Clinton Scollard Quotes, It's Daffodil Time
"The lyric sound of laughter, Fills all the April hills, The joy-song of the crocus, The mirth of daffodils." ~ Clinton Scollard Quotes, April Music

First of all I couldn't resist the kitty video - made me smile - second I heart this line - I could spend weeks writing of this anbalogy of the squirrels and the daffodils - "the very edibles they stole and forgot about." That is awesome. And all the quotes. It all made me smile. I’m really glad I got a chance to come by today. God bless and keep you and all of yours Michelle.
