Thrifty Thursday, #7

This week's Thrifty Thursday showcases some recent thrift finds, that I neglected to include my prior posts.

Sadly, I didn't make it to any thrift stores this week.  But that was on purpose!  As sad as it makes me, I'm trying--sometimes half-heartedly--to reign in my spending and follow our budget more closely.

As you've probably figured out, I'm a collector . . . of many, MANY things!  Thrift stores and garage sales are havens for the sort of stuff I love to find.  That's why I have to stay away from them--for now that is!

I've got to get control over my spending.

The temptation to pull into a Goodwill, Salvation Army or garage sale is VERY strong.  I just keeping thinking of all the wonderful treasures I could be missing out on, that won't be there the next time I visit.

Must not think about it. . .

So, without further explanation, here are my thrifted treasures for this week.

These ideals magazines were a WELCOMED find!  I love them!  Each one is chock-full of beautiful poems, stories and pictures.  I've always liked these magazines; and reading them, never fails to put a smile on my face.

I got this entire stack for $13.50.  They were only .50 cents a piece, what a bargain!  Some of them are pretty old and the content is spectacular.

Now to read them all . . .

These lovely deer statues--stamped, Japan, on the bottom--were waiting to be found at my local Goodwill store, a few weeks back.  Each was priced at $3.00 but the color tag they were was 1/2 off that day.  So it turned my purchase into a BOGO!  Yay!

I fell in love with the cute momma and her baby deer.  They look really nice on the shelves, on either side of the fake fireplace, in our entertainment center.

So happy with this purchase!

This .50 cent treasure, is a wooden egg hand painted in Poland.  I loved it and it fit right in with my ceramic eggs quite nicely.

This precious sleeping sow, snored her way into my heart.  Loving all things FARM related, this piggy was too cute to pass up.

She only cost $1.00 and I enjoy seeing here whenever I'm cooking at the stove.  Her sleepy, piggy body lapped over my stove top makes me grin.

Lastly, are several recent thrifts straight from the apple basket!  My kitchen is decorated in apples, so these little treasures make a nice accent.

The toothpick holder is my favorite, followed by the trivet.

The little Home * Sweet * Home sign covers up the nasty door to my pizza oven and the apple salt & pepper shakers are just too cute!  I think the lot set me back $3.00.  What a steal.

Well, thanks for visiting!  Come back next week to see more!

  1. All that reading for the cost of just one magazine.......can't get much better than that!

  2. Oh darn those pesky budgets! It always feels that because things cost so little compared to "real" stores that it doesn't matter - but it can certainly add up! Congrats on exercising restraint!

  4. Brenda, that was what thrilled me the most about the purchase. I can't wait to sit in the sun on my swing out back and read the hours away. Sue, that pesky budget has me frazzled. Shopping at thrift stores can be a budget killer. Like you said, all those inexpensive finds add up to sometimes a NOT so inexpensive price! Erica, I'm glad someone else likes my deer. I'm not so sure my "dear" husband likes them, as much as I do. But, I think he's going to let them stay.

I am right there with you on the pesky budget thing (not to mention the "too much stuff to move" complaint from my Husband Dear!)
