"A contented mind is the greatest blessing a man can enjoy in this world." ~ Joseph Addison
It's been a few Mondays since I've posted a One Thousand Gifts list.
I'm not quite sure why I took a break from it, absent minded I guess. Not that I'm ungrateful or anything, I'm the farthest thing from that. At least I hope that I am. I've sort of been rolling along unawares for a while.
Noticing the good things happening in the mundane tasks of the day, is not a problem. I do that all the time. But I haven't consciously sat down and claimed them. I guess that's what happens when you aimlessly go through the motions.
This Monday I've decided to be present, to be conscious of my blessings. I'm naming them and claiming them.
I'm linking up with A Holy Experience to continue counting my 1,000 gifts.
Last time I left off at No. # 120. . .
No. # 121: God's grace and mercy in my life and the lives of my family and friends.
No. # 122: Resilient tomato starts that withstand a tumble to the floor, dirt scattered everywhere and leaves snapped. Thankfully we only lost one plant. I was able to replant them the next day in new containers, all the while praying my butterfingers didn't strike again.
No. #123: Sinks that don't overflow when trickling water has been forgotten and dishes float dangerously towards the edge, pushing the sinks capacity.
No. #124: The infancy of nature. Tiny flower buds close to bloom, baby bunnies, growing morning doves and fluffy woodpeckers anxious for their supper.
No. #125: Safe travels.
No. #126: Fresh baked chocolate chip cookies, warm and gooey, taking a dip in ice cold milk before being devoured.
No. #127: My mom's homemade chop suey.
No. #128: Healing bones.
No. #129: A son that FINALLY shaved his scruffy face.
No. #130: The smell of my husband's cologne. Gets me everytime! I go weak in the knees!
No. #131: Neighbors that mow part of our lawn, when our lawnmower has died.
No. #132: Sharing and trading starts of plants with friends, so we can all enjoy the beauty of flowers and reap the harvest of vegetables.
No. #133: For piggy banks laden with chain.
No. #134: Warm summer days, swimming pools and the smell of coconut scented sunblock.
No. #135: Still being able to sign my son up for the 2nd half of summer school, hoping he can make up a credit or two.
No. #136: Movies with no bad language, no sexual content and a story line that touches your heart and moves you to tears. Inspirational. The world could use more of this.
No. #137: For my Swiffer sweeper! I love it. It makes cleaning the floors much more enjoyable.
No. #138: The knowledge that I can do something about this "fluffiness" of body, to which I have eaten my way into. That I can turn this around and make myself healthy again. Healthy choices and exercise. It's as simple as that.
No. #139: Gentle rain showers without the boisterous thunder, dangerous lightening and powerful winds.
No. #140: For the peaceful music of George Winston. This song is entitled - Thanksgiving - appropriate for Multitudes on Monday.

Oh you thankfulness for sinks that overflow made me chuckle. I had a utility sink in our other house and absentminded me had a flood several times in that room!
