Five Minute Friday on Waking Up

Good morning everyone!  It's Friday, the sun is shining and it's time for another 5 minute post with The Gypsy Mama.

This week's subject is:  Waking Up . . .

GO:

Waking up. . . It's that thing we do so effortlessly each day or at least it should be effortless.  But it NEVER is for me!  I don't wake up well.  I'm slow to rouse back to consciousness.  I've never been a morning person and probably never will be.  No matter how much I try or want it.  The only thing I wake up well too as an afternoon nap.

My kids both wake up differently.  The youngest is an earlier riser and he is up before the butt crack of dawn each and everyday.  The eldest, on the other hand, not so much.  He's just like his momma, I'm afraid.  He would sleep until Noon, if I let him, and then do his "waking up."

My husband is an earlier riser by necessity.  He works long hours and gets up at 5 a.m., before all the rest of us have even contemplated exiting REM sleep!  He does well with mornings, bless his soul.

I remember when my kids were very babies.  They woke up all smiles and so hungry!  They wanted to eat.  I loved feeding them their first meal of the day.  Like hungry little baby birds they shoveled it in.

Speaking of birds.  The Robins have returned and spring is awakening here in my hometown.  The weather is a bit chipper but spring is here, I know it.  All of creation is waking from it's long winter's nap.  I can't wait to bask in it all.

Waking up. . . yes, waking up is a daily occurrence for which I am grateful.  Because it means I have another day to live this crazy, beautiful, wonderful, fascinating, rewarding thing we call life.

I do, however, know that one day I will wake up in Heaven and I will see Jesus's face.  What a "waking up" that will be.

Well, I think that about does it for me.  Goodnight. . . um, I mean, Good morning everyone!

STOP.

Would you like to play along too.  All you have to do is visit The Gypsy Mama, get the subject of the day, then  just write for 5 minutes flat.  That's it.  No more, no less.  Then link up and share with the rest of us!

Have a blessed day!

  1. Stopping by from 5 Min. Fridays ... joined in for the first time today!

I can totally relate to your words about waking up. Oh, I wish I was a joyful early riser! My kids are early birds ... I'm sure right now it's b/c both are so young. I force myself to rise early out of necessity. There's so much I want to accomplish before the children wake!

and, yes, you're right, what a blessing to hear the birds chirping. Excited, too, to see the flowers popping!
