It's time for another edition of 5 minute Friday, with The Gypsy Mama.
Here's how to play along, "Stop, drop and write. . ." As Lisa-Jo puts it.
"Simply stop, drop and write for five minutes flat! Set your words free. Don’t edit them, don’t fret over them, don’t try to make them perfect."
Okay, I'm starting my 5 minutes on the topic of: Waiting . . .
GO:
Life is one giant waiting game . . .
Waiting for the sunrise.
Waiting for the sunset.
Waiting to hear those 3 special words, "I Love You."
Waiting for the birth of my children.
Waiting for the seasons to change.
Waiting for the flowers to grow.
Waiting for the garden's harvest.
Waiting for the rain to start. Waiting for the rain to stop.
Waiting for your favorite birds to visit your backyard feeders.
Waiting for Christmas morning and seeing the joy in my children's faces.
Waiting in line at the grocery store, gas station, restaurants, etc. etc.
Waiting for the bus or a taxi.
Waiting at the airport when there is a weather delay.
Waiting at a stoplight or at the stop sign.
Waiting on the plumber, trashman or the cable guy.
Waiting for the mail person to deliver a special package.
Waiting for your turn in a vicious game of Phase 10 or, any game for that matter.
Waiting for the end of the story when your reading a really good book.
Waiting for your hair to grow.
Waiting for the cure of cancer.
Waiting for the pain from a physical injury to cease.
Waiting for restoration and the pain of lossing a loved one to subside.
Waiting on the answers to your prayers.
Waiting on your family at breakfast, lunch and dinner.
Waiting for the food to cook.
Waiting to use the restroom when my kids fly in there right ahead of me, when I have to go. . . BAD! You know that, cross your legs and walk funny sort of thing.
Waiting for the dust bunnies willing vacate your house. I WISH!
Waiting for chocolate cows that ooze delicious chocolate milk . . . NO, not really!
Waiting for money to grow on trees. . . wouldn't it be wonderful to have limitless amounts to help others in need! Yes!
Waiting to find that pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. Hey, it was St. Patrick's Day yesterday! What can I say!
Waiting on my skinny self to emerge from this fat cocoon.
Waiting for my reflection to be that of Jesus.
Waiting on the day when I'll see Jesus face to face.
Waiting . . . we spend our lives learning how to wait.
This previous list was in no particular order. Just the order they popped into my head.
STOP.
The song, While I'm Waiting, by John Waller, expresses waiting, very well. . .

hopped on over here from gypsy mama. love this post. and so true don't we spend a lot of our life waiting. the waiting on the end of a book is the hardest one for me. i always want to skip ahead and see what happens...I am pretty impatient ;)
ReplyDeleteLove the link up Michelle. Great idea.
ReplyDeleteAnd yes, I'm not great at waiting.
For only having five minutes and no editing, you did a fantastic job! Beautiful words; inspirational thoughts.
ReplyDeleteh. rae, I have to admit I read what the topic was early this morning and I had been pondering what I wanted to write all day long. Plus, I type over 85 wpm. So when I sat down for my 5 min. I had it all in my head, ready to type out. I made a couple typos that drove me nuts. Also, something I REALLY want to go back and change, my mind process went from always wanting my hair to grow long, to finding a cure for cancer. I worried people may think I have cancer. I do not, but I have a couple friends who do. I wish I would have put the two thoughts a bit farther apart. Thank you for the nice comment. Jen, I love this 5 minute Friday gig. It's great fun! I'm not great at waiting either. Patience is a virtue I often run low on. Thanks for the comment! :-)
ReplyDeleteKelley, thank you SO much for the thoughts on waiting. I'm glad you stopped by my blog from the gypsy mama. Also, so glad to see that you became a follower. I hope that I don't disappoint. On the book endings, I have to admit. I have on occasion been so impatient with a book that I have read the last few pages before I'm supposed too. Somehow, it didn't ruin it. I still enjoyed reading the whole story, just without all the anticipation. I'm SO Bad!
