It's another edition of Thrifty Thursday.
Here's this week's thrift finds:
I found this cute goose statue at the Goodwill. The original sticker price of $12.99, was still on the bottom. Goodwill had it priced at $6.00 and the color tag was 25% off. So I got it for just $4.50. It looks really nice on the entertainment center, next to the t.v.
This pair of owls are so cute. I love, love, LOVE the cobalt blue one. The brown one can be put over a candle and it makes a nice design on the wall. My grandma had one just like it. These were only .50 cents a piece.
I thought this blue "A good mother makes a happy home," plate was so pretty. I can't wait to have a curio cabinet so I can display all my decorative plates, cobalt glass and figurines.
The little baby dressed in a bunny costume and half an egg, is a Lefton piece. I thought it was too cute to pass up for $1.00. The pitcher and saucer is from Enesco and it too was just $1.00. I have several of these little pitchers and saucers.
This is one of two small Springbok puzzles I picked up for .25 cents each. I put this one together last night and discovered it has two missing pieces. Bummer!
This is the other Springbok puzzle. Like the first one, it has two pieces missing as well. I put it together last night. Despite the missing pieces, I still like each of them and enjoyed putting them together.
Here I got a book about Himalayan cats and a few poem books. One of them is my favorite Hallmark type. Each of the books has an inscription in it, that adds a bit of extra character.
Here is a look at the inside of my Hallmark, The Promise of Love, poem book. I showed you this picture because she has a lovely basket of fruit. . . and you all know how I love my fruit baskets and bowls.
I was really happy with these two little finds. The wooden half-eaten green apple is my favorite. It was only .50 cents. The fat hog chowing down on a pile of apples, fits right in to my kitchen decor. He was only .50 cents too. LOVE them!
Even though this stove isn't cast iron and it's not old, I still liked it. It fits into my miniature cast iron stove collection, quite nicely. The little wooden bucket of apples balances out my shelf. I had one similar to it and needed another for the other side. For .75 cents, you can't beat it.
Here's a little closer look at the apple bucket. When I got it home I discovered one of the apples had a missing stem. So . . . I went outside, found a stick about the right size, broke a piece off and inserted it to replace the missing stem. Ba-da-bing Ba-da-boom, just like new!
Score! Large Pyrex mixing bowl. I love it. It was only $4.00. But, tragically, it is not the bowl I wanted. BEWARE sweet little old ladies! Why? Because they will steal the Pyrex bowl you have been looking and looking and looking for, right out from under your nose.
NOTE TO SELF: Do not give in to the pressure to move, when a sweet little old lady is creeping in on your space, before you have thoroughly looked the shelf over.
Lesson learned, Pyrex bowl LOST! I almost cried, really, I've been looking for that bowl (not this bowl) for a long time. For the bowl I missed out on, I have the matching small and medium. It was the large one. I'm totally bummed, even still.
Last but not least, is this adorable little kitten figurine. He's so handsome and looks so nice with my other cat figurines.
His eyes just said, "Take me home." He was only $1.00 and he doesn't eat any food or need his litter scooped either! Good deal, if you ask me.

ReplyDeleteHi, thanks for visiting my blog. What fabulous finds, especially the pyrex - great find. I know what you mean about the old ladies - they are ruthless on the bargain hunting scene and Ive lost many a good item to them! Scarlett x
ReplyDeleteLove all your fun finds. And I'm very impressed with all the linkups you're participating in. That's awesome. Might have to add a few myself.
ReplyDeleteThanks Jen! I'm sort of a clutter bug, er collector. I love it because I find things that I so enjoy, for little bits of cash. I usually spend less in a day thrifting than I would on a brand new outfit. The linkups are a blast! It is so fun to see everyone else's treasures. There is some really neat stuff out there in the great big world! Fun to see it all write on my little laptop. I will be calling you for Twitter help and we must go to lunch. I'd love to pick your brain. You have so many great ideas!
ReplyDeleteYou're so cute! That bowl is still wonderful! We have similar ones that we have used over twenty years. Maybe a large one will be there for you next time, just because you were kind enough to get out of the little lady's way. :)
ReplyDeleteI totally got that same bowl last week! lol.

h. rae, it is a wonderful bowl. I can't wait to whip up a homemade chocolate cake in it. My large Pyrex in the pattern I have will be out there somewhere for me. My mom always said about shopping, "if it's meant to be it will be there when you have the money." I'll just have to be patient and wait. PJ, that's great that you bought the exact same bowl a week ago!! Too funny. You got a bargain too. $1.00 less than I paid. Great find! Thank you for visiting my blog.
ReplyDeleteOH! The Betsey Clark puzzle...I was such a fan of her work. So sweet
